The idea of identity being settled around wanting rather than doing - this is so interesting. I see this a lot with people trying to write a book. They join writers’ groups, take all the courses, hit up published writers for advice, but when you ask them how often they carve out time to do the work, they fall silent. I used to find this frustrating but I get it now - thank you for this! 🙏🏻

Yes, writing is another great example. If you spend time in Los Angeles, you'll find that the area is full of people who have built their identities around the idea of being actors and who never actually audition.
